eChina Project
Following two successful visits from two groups of Chinese teachers and
educationalists, the Education Department at the University of Sheffield
contacted Hallam CLC to discuss further involvement.
As a result, we ran a day wherein the University Film & Media Unit
filmed various CLC lessons and activities.
These included:

- the use of interactive PowerPoint presentation in MFL
- efficient web searching in Science
- good use and classroom management of laptops in Science
- using Kar2ouche to accelerate learning of texts in English Literature

In addition, all the teachers involved were interviewed on camera to explain the thinking behind the various techniques employed in the use of ICT in their lesson, what the aims & objectives were, and how ICT was important in help achieve them.
Students were interviewed during and after the lesson, to find out how the structure of the lesson and the use of ICT had aided their learning and enhanced their experience more generally.
Finally, the CLC Manager was interviewed to explain the remit of city learning centres with EiC, other initiatives such as Specialist School status, and how the use of ICT impacts on teaching and learning.
The film footage and examples of the curriculum materials produced are currently being edited onto DVD. This is to be taken to the Institute of Beijing to join other materials for inclusion in their Teacher Training programme.

It is planned to repeat this project for two more terms by looking at other uses of ICT.
