Hallam CLC Primary Support 05-06
The following are examples of the training and support on offer.
Using ACTIVprimary Interactive Whiteboard Software
These twilights aim to introduce and develop the use of the ACTIVprimary
to enhance teaching & learning.
The sessions combine teaching the skills necessary to use this technology,
but with a pedagogic approach to how it can be best used in class.
Control Project
This project provides teachers with training in the use of control hardware & software to enhance and support the KS2 curriculum. Control can be used to enhance areas of Design Technology by controlling devices like fairground rides, traffic lights and other models, and this project uses this approach to cover the mechanisms aspect of the KS2 NC.
Control Equipment kits and resources are available for short term loan. These will be delivered to your school for the duration of the project.
Using Kar2ouche to Support the Curriculum
This project is set around the use of Kar2ouche software. Kar2ouche Composer is a creative multimedia authoring tool which can be used for storyboarding, interactive role-play and publishing. The specific curriculum focus of the project will be either English (Key Stage 1 or 2) or History (Key Stage 2). Training in the use of Kar2ouche will be provided at the CLC as outlined below. The training will take place on three occasions during the school year. The school will need to decide which curriculum area the software will be used to support. Kar2ouche titles are:
English
Creative Writing – KS1
Reading and Writing Stories – KS2 (Y3/4)
Narrative Texts and Creative Writing – KS2 (Y5/6)
History
Egyptians
Romans
Tudors
Vikings

OfSTED Support
Primary schools who are soon to have an OfSTED inspection or have just been inspected and have had ICT identified as an area needing development will be offered funded in-school support. The support will focus on the specific needs of the school.
Bespoke training
Twilight courses may be offered as INSET during the day, by negotiation.
Bespoke training aimed at a particular curriculum need within a school
may be arranged, within certain constraints. Please contact the CLC to
discuss these possibilities further.
Other opportunities that arise through the year will be advertised.
